Brisbane is the third most populous city in Australia and is the capital of Queensland. Brisbane’s metropolitan area has a population 2.15 million. Brisbane is named after the river on which it stands. The city has hosted a number of events including large cultural and sporting events. Some of the events were World Expo 88, the 1982 Commonwealth Games and the final Goodwill Games in 2001.
Brisbane has multi-campus colleges and universities along with three major TAFE colleges. The city is known for the education since it has multi-campus universities like University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University which are among the highly rated universities.
Many cultural events are held in the city including Ekka (the Royal Queensland Exhibition), held every august, and the River-festival, held every September.
